United celebrate another title success

Manchester United wrapped up the Premier League title as Hull City climbed out of the bottom three to leave Middlesbrough on the brink of relegation.

Newcastle United are back in the relegation zone after losing at home to Fulham, who will fight it out with Tottenham Hotspur for the final European berth.

With the Red Devils clinching the title at lunchtime, the main focus later in the afternoon was on the battle to beat the drop and ...

Manchester United clinched a third consecutive Premier League title after securing the point they needed with a 0-0 draw at home to Arsenal.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men headed into Saturday lunchtime's Old Trafford encounter requiring only a draw to match Liverpool's record of 18 top-flight crowns.

And, after seeing Arsenal control possession for long periods and strike the post late on, United greeted the final whistle with huge delight to give Ferguson the 11th championship success ...

Hughes: Given assurances

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes insists he will still be manager of the club next season.

There has been speculation over his position for most of the season after the mega-rich Abu Dhabi United Group took over at Eastlands back in September.

This will only intensify after City missed out on European football next season by losing 2-1 at Spurs on Saturday.

But Hughes insists he has been given assurances by chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak that he will ...

Middlesbrough still have an outside chance of Premier League survival after they drew 1-1 with Aston Villa at The Riverside.

Man City boss Mark Hughes was unhappy with the penalty decision which cost his side against Spurs.

Robbie Keane scored from the spot with four minutes to go after Frazier Campbell and Micah Richards had tangled in the box.

Saha: Two goals

Everton easily grabbed three points from their final home game of the season with a 3-1 win over West Ham.

The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Radoslav Kovac picked up the ball 35 yards out and blasted a long-range effort into the net as Everton stood off him.

But the game was changed completely when Everton were awarded a penalty and West Ham reduced to 10-men on 38 minutes.

As Tim Cahill burst into the penalty area, he was tripped by ...

Moyes: Thrilled with season

Everton manager David Moyes has hailed the season-long effort of his players after their 3-1 defeat of West Ham.

The Toffees moved up to fifth-place in the Premier League with the victory as Aston Villa could only manage a draw with struggling Middlesbrough.

But Moyes insists that even if his side fall back to sixth on the final day of the season, it will still have been a fantastic campaign.

Steve Bruce has told his critics not to forget who Wigan are after the defeat to Stoke City.

Saturday's 2-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium means the Latics have extended their barren run to only two wins from their last 17 Premier League fixtures.

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is 'really, really happy' at Manchester United after winning a third successive Premier League title.

Peter Lovenkrands has hinted that he would be open to extending his stay at Newcastle United.

The Danish striker joined the Magpies from Schalke in January on a deal that expires in the summer.

Lovenkrands, 29, has steadily impressed during his time on Tyneside and his goal against Middlesbrough on Monday night was his third in 10 Premier League appearances.

Newcastle are currently outside the relegation zone on goal difference with two games of the season remaining, and Lovenkrands ...

But the pressure on Owen has increased after his barren run in front of goal stretched to 11 games following his failure to find the net in Monday's 3-1 win over Middlesbrough.

In fact, the 29-year-old was withdrawn for Obafemi Martins on 70 ...

The Reds shelled out an initial fee of £6.7million to sign Pennant from Birmingham, making him an attractive proposition for prospective suitors.

Pennant is currently focusing on helping Portsmouth retain their top flight status before worrying about his own future.
